Dr. Lanyon writes about a shocking event that led to his illness. He received a strange letter from Dr. Jekyll, asking for urgent help. The letter instructed Dr. Lanyon to go to Dr. Jekyll’s house, collect a specific drawer from his laboratory, and take it to his own home. Then, at midnight, a messenger would come to collect it.
Dr. Lanyon follows the instructions. That night, a small, mysterious man arrives—it is Mr. Hyde. He is eager and anxious to get the drawer. In front of Dr. Lanyon, Mr. Hyde mixes chemicals from the drawer and drinks the potion. To Dr. Lanyon’s horror, Mr. Hyde transforms into Dr. Jekyll right before his eyes.
The shock of seeing this transformation is too much for Dr. Lanyon. He realizes that Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are the same person. This terrible discovery deeply affects him, causing his health to decline rapidly. He cannot cope with the secret and soon dies from the stress and fear caused by what he witnessed.
